Happy Birthday Pinkrosebud54!

Today would have been my mothers 61st Birthday. She was so beautiful and vibrant, and I miss her more and more each day.

My Personal Pledge

This will be my 3rd year as the Chair of my local Relay For Life, and my 6th year as a participant. This year, my Relay For Life event will break 1 MILLION TOTAL DOLLARS RAISED! In a county of less than 12,000 people, that is an amazing feat!

I always declare $100 as my personal "cash" goal, separate from the other fundraising I do with my team, and separate from my luminary fundraising. This year, I am celebrating 5 years Cancer free, so I am amping it up a bit and declaring $1,000 as my personal "cash" goal!

In the name of a cure!

I am a survivor.
My mothers sisters are survivors.
My friends are survivors.

Sometimes we lose people along the way.

I lost my mother in 2001 to Metastatic Breast Cancer. My husband lost his father in 1991 to Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Many friends have lost parents, and my parents have lost friends.

I have neighbors who are battling Cancer.

But this story would be different if it weren't for Cancer Research.

I Relay! I Race for the Cure! I am one of the Army of Women!

I continue each day along the path with a goal of some day only knowing the word Cancer as something you Google for a history lesson.
