I like tv. I like it. I like it a'lot.
Gimme reality. Gimme crime drama. Gimme a little Flippin Out, a lot of Big Brother, and Survivor and I am happy. Throw in Lost and 24 and you have me forever.
There are a lot of other "fill in's" that don't demand my full attention, but are on for the "noise".
Today as I was sitting here making a piece of jewelry while "listening" to the TV I wondered "why is it that the TV has to be on for me to chat on my laptop, or work on a project?". I mean, its not like I have to have the TV on to work at work... So why does it have to be on when I work at home? I would sit in the same seat, and do the same stuff, but why not listen to music instead?
It boils down to this... while I would love to be able to live TV free... toss them all out like my bloggy friend MckMama did - and I mean really, I wish I could seriously cut the cord, toss 'em out, call it quits, divorce myself from my addiction...
But.I just.cant.do.it.

I am a junky!
How about you?
Sometimes I can shut the beast down and relish the quiet, but I'll admit the TV is on now simply for noise as I wind down the day.
ReplyDeleteOh, and for the fact that Kiefer Sutherland was on the Late Show tonight, so there was that! Heh!
I normally have the TV, or music on while I'm doing other things. I'm not a fan of complete silence, unless I'm trying to meditate...but even then I sometimes have music on.
ReplyDeleteI have a few shows I watch religiously. Lost, The Office, 24, and Rescue Me. Other than that...I like flipping and catching bits, and pieces of other things. :)
Back in high school, I used to watch about 2-3 hours a night. At one point I decided I was addicted and quit, cold turkey, for 7 years. I didn't miss it. Husband and I didn't have a TV for the first year of our marriage. Friends gave us one of their old ones so we could watch VHS. We bought an antenna for me specifically for the 2004 Olympics. Didn't use it much after that. Husband bought an LCD for playing video games shortly after we moved here, and our old antenna didn't work with it. I bought another one for the Miss USA pageant last March (2007) because a former co-worker of mine was Miss North Dakota. And now...I'm using it for Olympics 2008.
ReplyDeleteAll that said, I haven't missed a Survivor since 2004 (we watch online) and have borrowed The Office from friends. Oh, and I now watch Dancing with the Stars online, too. Perhaps addicted again? Ay ay ay!
