You know it is cold when...
- The snow from your shoes is still in its original state on the floor of your car from last night when you got out of it.
- The snow is so loud that you cant concentrate (you Minnesotans will get this one)
- You wear 18 layers and furry lined hats with ear flaps to let the dog out the front door
- Your car is warmed up, but the heat doesnt kick in until you get to your destination 20 minutes later
- Even the dog wont go out!
You know you are having a bad day when...
- You spend half your day wondering "what should we do?"
- And you spend the other half saying "what should we do"?
- And the whole next day trying to justify what you did!
You know its not a sleeping disorder when...
- You are too tired to stay awake at work
- Because you didnt sleep last night
- So you strategically plan your escape to an early slumber tonight
- And then go online and blow the plan
- Staying up late watching tv
- And regret not going to sleep earlier - when the clock reads 1am
So now for the hmmmm....
Heidi has been sharing "Bad Poetry Mondays" for a few weeks. Today I was listening to the only radio station that comes in in my office, and thought to myself... Are all pop songs just a bad excuse for bad lymerics put to music? And better yet, how many times did they re-write that phrase to find a better rhyming word?
Oh ho ho! Most of those "You know it's cold..." lists are old hat, but this one's original. I love it! I feel bad for people that can't "get" it, but then I also am jealous of them (because even though I've lived here my whole life, I've never acclimatized!).
ReplyDeleteAnd true DAT on the crummy rhyming lyrics. Some oldies lyrics, especially, make me laugh.
How did I get here? I was lurking around and found your blog. I have only had time to read a couple of your posts but the one about the pain and meds made me want to write to you.
ReplyDeleteMy brother has always been an athletic man. He is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Karate and he is a Fire Fighter. A few years back (maybe even 4) he was at work and late that night he went back for a second helping of shrimp. In the middle of the night he was in agony. Wouldn't you know it, food poisening from the shrimp. Not too big a deal you say? Many people get food poisening and recover within a couple of days. Well, so did my brother. Weeks later was another story. His joints started swelling, he was sick, his eye sight changed, just lots of symptoms. This rock of a man was eventually diagnosed with reactive arthriritis. Also call Reiters Syndrom. In many people it runs its course and they recover within 6 months. Not so my brother. He gets so debilitated that he can't function. He faught the city and it was determined that it was work related so he gets L&I for part of his pay and he works part time for the rest. He remains positive for the most part but I know that it gets to him alot. I recently moved from the area so I am not longer able to help him out as much as before btu we do talk almost daily.
The point I want to make is...You have to take you medication if you want to attempt to get better. Do not let what others may say or think make you not take your meds. Like the others have said, i fyou take your meds, you will feel better, you will have more energy, you will be able to do more, you can work on losing the weight, you can attempt to exercise but mainly you can enjoy your children (and puppy) more. Keep your chin up and I wish you improved health.
Thank you Michelle! I am glad you found me! :)
ReplyDeleteI need to lose a good 40# or so, but it has been bottom of my list. I did give in to the evil in the bottle this weekend. I dont like how I feel on them, but I like the lack of pain.
As for the other meds. They are giving me killer side effects including heart burn which is already a natural problem for me, so we are working on a new medication.
Thank you again for stopping by, and thank you for the encouragement!
lo
Heidi!
ReplyDeleteI knew you would agree with all of the above my MN buddy! It truly is hard to explain cold to someone who has not experienced OUR kind of cold. Cold to people in CA and FL is balmy to us in the winter. But then we also have a rare form of HOT too. If only there were a happy medium! :)
My least favorite lyric is; something wishin'...stick my key in the ignition (it was a naughty song)and when I heard that part I though, "Oh if the beat wasn't so good I would turn this trash off!"
ReplyDeleteHi Lori, Thank you for your visit. I think that poem is my all time favorite, too. It fits for so many of life's struggles. I appreciate your suggestion to share it with a common friend, and I will do so.
ReplyDeleteScarlett you have my curiousity so piqued! What the heck song??? hehehehehehe
ReplyDeleteCora, thank you for the inspiration and your well put together thoughts about feelings. Somedays we need them! I think he will enjoy it.
